About Champaign County Emergency Management Agency

The Champaign County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) – Office of Homeland Security serves as the central coordinating agency for all-hazards emergency management across Champaign County and its 19 political subdivisions. Operating under the authority of the Ohio Revised Code, the EMA is responsible for coordinating countywide efforts to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disasters.
Emergency management is both a system and a continuous process built around four core phases: mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. The Champaign County EMA works across all four phases to reduce risk, enhance readiness, support coordinated emergency response, and assist in community recovery following disasters.
Our agency addresses a wide range of threats, including natural disasters, technological incidents, hazardous materials emergencies, and acts of terrorism.
