The Champaign County Emergency Management Agency recognized three members of the Champaign Countywide Communications Center with a Director’s Commendation following their handling of a pediatric trauma incident.

Recognized were:

  • Dispatcher Deven Dixon

  • Dispatcher Leslie Massie

  • Dispatcher Kaylyn Dozier

Through their calm and professional handling of the call, Dispatcher Dixon, Dispatcher Massie, and Dispatcher Dozier played an instrumental role in the successful outcome of the incident.

Their ability to quickly gather critical information, provide reassurance, coordinate the appropriate resources, and maintain composure during an incredibly stressful situation is a testament to the professionalism and dedication they demonstrate every day.

Emergency dispatchers are often the first point of contact when someone is experiencing one of the worst moments of their life. While their work frequently happens behind the scenes, their actions can have a direct and lasting impact on the outcome of an emergency.

From the citizens of Champaign County, our partners throughout the emergency services community, and especially all of us here at the Champaign County EMA:

Thank you.

Thank you for being the calm voice on the other end of the line when someone needs help. Thank you for the work you do when few people see it, and thank you for helping ensure that when our community needs help, that help is there.

Your work matters. Your professionalism matters. And on this day, it made a difference.

Thank you for your service to Champaign County.
